Job Description
Responsibilities of R&D Formulation Chemist
-Perform lab-scale formulations and pilot plant trials
-Create waterborne acrylic traffic paint systems
-Optimize paint systems, dry times, and viscosity balances
-Consistently test performance of products including dry time, film build/application, durability, and storage stability
-Continuously improve systems
-Analyze test results to identify areas needed improvement
-Troubleshoot and discrepancies or issues
-Maintain documentation and records
-Provide support to production runs as needed
Requirements of R&D Formulation Chemist
-Minimum Bachelor s Degree in Chemistry, polymer science, or materials Science; Masters degree in fields preferred
-Previous R&D experience required if no degree
-3-7 years coatings formulation experience
-Previous rheology control and pigment dispersion experience
-Strong knowledge of waterborne acrylic systems
-Familiar with DOT or NTEPEP
-Manufacturing scale-up experience preferred
-strong understanding of acrylic latex chemistry and pigment dispersion systems.
-Excellent attention to detail
-Good analytical and problem solving skills
Hours: 7:00am-3:30pm OR 9:00am-4:00pm Monday-Friday
Pay Rate: $32.00/hr

On her days off, Jessica can be found spending time with her husband and dogs, or shopping for antiques or buying, distressing, and painting furniture – continuing to fill her home with family treasures and heirlooms, some dating back to the Civil and Revolutionary Wars. In fact, Jessica is a proud member of DAR (Daughter of the American Revolution). Having grown up in Wisconsin, she has a love of country living, and peace and quiet. This is why when she’s not shopping or antiquing, she enjoys reading, playing the piano, relaxing on the porch, being outside in nature, or learning more about her family genealogy.
